Getting Enough Fruits and Vegetables?  A Daily Dilemma

Medical science has proven that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can reduce your risk of degenerative diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer – and help you live a longer and healthier life. That’s why leading health organizations such as the National Cancer Institute and the American Heart Association encourage us to eat at least 7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables every day.  There are thousands of nutrients in fresh fruits and vegetables which the body needs that you never get from taking vitamins and isolated supplements.

From the studies I researched, it is estimated that less than 10% of Americans get the minimum number servings per day due to the hectic pace of our daily lives. It can be difficult to find the time to shop for and prepare fresh fruit and veggies each day in the amount we should be getting in our meals and snacks.

As athletes, we must be even more rigorous in our choices of supplements. Drug testing recently has been introduced for the age group athlete. (Read the latest anti-doping update from USAT) Supplements are not governed by FDA, thus the labels are not required to indicate ingredients, as they are with FDA approved products. Independent, third-party research and testing needs to be done in order to guarantee a product holds no “harmful” or “banned” ingredients.
Also, athletes, who follow the proven Paleo-like eating regimen of metabolic efficiency, might experience the difficulty of ingesting enough Fruits and Vegetables. They, too, can rest assured they are taking a healthy step towards reaching that daily requirement goal!

Juice Plus is one of these independently tested products. I was introduced to Juice Plus through my daughter-in-law who first started the grandchildren on the product. Getting good nutrition is important for many reasons, including fitness, weight loss, healthy development in children, and maintaining health and wellness as we age. These issues also are discussed on the website. And, of course, there is the online store where you can purchase--and actually try for yourself--what I believe is a reliable, proven and sensible solution to the challenge of getting enough fruits and vegetables
I recommend athletes consider this supplement as a way to keep that competitive edge. Please visit www.coachvaleriejuiceplus.com.
